Maxine & Erwin Waldman Memorial Golf Tournament

CD Wealth Management Sponsoring Charity Golf Tournament to Benefit JCC Scholarship Funds

Dallas (Aug. 16, 2022) — CD Wealth Management is proud to sponsor and staff the IMA, Inc. and North Dallas Bank & Trust Co. Maxine and Erwin Waldman Memorial Golf Tournament on Sept. 12 at Brookhaven Country Club.

The annual tournament — named in honor of the maternal grandparents of Scott Cohen, the principal, founder and CEO of CD Wealth Management — benefits the Maxine and Erwin Waldman Youth Scholarship Fund, the Joanie I. Weinstein Camp Scholarship Fund and the Elaine Quint Schrager Preschool Scholarship Fund through the Aaron Family Jewish Community Center of Dallas.

In addition to financial sponsorship from the company itself, all of CD Wealth Management’s employees will serve as volunteers at the event.

“It’s an honor to take part in this special event and to further the great work my grandparents and their peers did for so many years,” Cohen said. “They set an amazing example of community service and volunteerism — one that resonates not only for me and my family, but for the Dallas Jewish community and local businesses as well.”

The Maxine and Erwin Waldman Youth Scholarship Fund provides sports scholarships to youths through the JCC. The Joanie I. Weinstein Camp Scholarship Fund provides scholarship assistance to those in the community who are not otherwise able to attend JCC camps. The Elaine Quint Schrager Preschool Scholarship Fund provides funding for capital equipment, toys and games, operating supplies and related expenses at the JCC’s Early Childhood Center.

Last year’s tournament raised more than $150,000, placing it among the top 25 charity golf tournaments in Dallas. This year’s tournament is on pace to exceed that total.

Cohen has served as co-chair for the event for 16 years. The other co-chairs of the event are Clay Aaron, Neil Goldberg and Robert Solimani.

Erwin held numerous leadership positions in the Dallas Jewish community, serving as president of the JCC from 1966 to 1968. He also served in leadership roles with B’nai B’rith, City of Hope, Congregation Shearith Israel and the Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas. Maxine was an advisor and volunteer with B’nai B’rith, a member of Congregation Shearith Israel and a 44-year volunteer at the Presbyterian Healthcare Center in Dallas.

Erwin and his brother Bill founded the Waldman Bros Insurance Agency in Dallas in 1949. The business was a family-run company that became a Dallas institution, and Cohen became part of the third generation to join Waldman Bros when he signed on in 1995.

With the blessing of his family and his business partners, Cohen launched CD Wealth Management in 2014 and has continued the family’s tradition of using business as a force for good in the local community through charity and service.

“We’re passionate about supporting others through our gifts and our service because we believe our collective future is worth the investment,” Cohen said.
