Celebrating Andy Dropkin: 25 Years of Guiding Clients with Clarity and Care
This year marks a special milestone for CD Wealth Management as our Chief Investment Officer, Andy Dropkin, is celebrating 25 years in wealth management.
Over the past two and a half decades, Andy has built a reputation not just as an expert in markets and investment strategy, but as a trusted partner to the families he serves. His work is guided by a simple yet powerful philosophy: Facts, not fear, should drive your decisions.
His career began with a fascination for markets — something he picked up from his father — but it quickly became clear that his true strength was building meaningful relationships. That guiding principle of putting clients first has stayed with him throughout his career, from his time at firms like Donaldson Lufkin Jenrette/Credit Suisse to CD Wealth Management.
Andy was Scott Cohen’s first hire when he founded CD Wealth in 2014, and from the first day, Andy helped shape the firm’s collaborative, client-first culture. He continues to play a key role in our investment strategy and market outlook, serving as a steady voice during times of uncertainty and a clear communicator in times of change.
“Andy’s impact can’t be overstated,” Scott said. “He’s helped clients reach goals they once thought out of reach, and he’s mentored our team through every stage of their growth. What makes it even better is knowing we’re only at the beginning of what we can accomplish together.”
Whether he’s managing our investment strategy or sitting down with a client to talk through a plan, Andy’s focus is always the same: helping people feel confident about their future.
“I love what I do,” Andy says. “It’s incredibly rewarding to help someone realize they can retire, give to charity or support their kids — that they’re going to be OK. That’s what it’s all about.”
Andy also is proud of the culture he has helped create at CD Wealth — a team that rows in the same direction, with no silos and no ego.
“I’ve had the privilege of working alongside Andy through many chapters of life and business,” CEO Ilona Friedman said. “He’s been a constant source of insight and calm, keeping us focused on what matters most. I’m truly thankful for his leadership and friendship.”
Outside the office, Andy is a devoted husband and father of two, an avid golfer, a puzzle enthusiast and an active member of the Dallas community. He’s chaired boards and supported local philanthropy, and today he values his time more than ever — not just to recharge, but to stay present for what matters most, at work and at home.
Andy, thank you for 25 years of integrity, insight, and leadership. And to our clients — thank you for trusting us to guide your financial journeys. Andy’s story is a testament to what’s possible when relationships come first.
