Ilona Friedman Honored in DBJ Women in Business Awards

CD Wealth Management CEO Honored in Dallas Business Journal’s Women in Business Awards

Dallas (May 29, 2025) — The Dallas Business Journal has named CD Wealth Management CEO Ilona Friedman as an honoree in its annual Women in Business Awards, which celebrate influential women who go above and beyond in their business and community — and who will impact the business landscape for years to come.

She was one of 30 honorees chosen from more than 280 nominees throughout North Texas. A judging committee of past honorees joined Business Journal newsroom leaders in making the selections.

“What makes Ilona truly exceptional is her consistency,” said Scott Cohen, CD Wealth’s Founder and Executive Chairman. “The same grace, diligence and empathy she brings to clients, she also extends to colleagues, community members and those whom she mentors.

“She embodies the values of integrity and service, making her not only an outstanding leader but also a force for long-term, purposeful impact.”

Friedman joined CD Wealth in 2014, the company’s first year, and has been central to its evolution into a premier wealth management firm. Her dual certifications as a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® and Certified Divorce Financial Analyst™ uniquely position her to guide individuals through life’s most complex transitions — divorce, bereavement, retirement, and intergenerational wealth transfer.

Prior to becoming CEO in 2025, Ilona was promoted to Chief Wealth Management Officer in 2021, when CD Wealth’s assets under management were $691 million. Within two years, that number had surpassed $1 billion. Her guidance also was pivotal during CD Wealth’s acquisition by Bluespring Wealth Partners in 2022, a milestone that secured the firm’s legacy and accelerated its growth.

“Her work has fundamentally strengthened CD Wealth’s infrastructure and its ability to serve clients with excellence,” Cohen said. “While many leaders focus on one aspect of business growth, Ilona excels across the spectrum, from managing client relationships and mentoring colleagues to helping manage the portfolio and driving strategic expansion.”

Friedman sits on Kestra Financial’s Women Empowerment Network Advisory Council, which seeks to empower female financial professionals through a dedicated support network. She also serves as Advisory Council to the Southwest Community Foundation.
