Founder, CEO
Certified Financial Planner™
Certified Fund Specialist
Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy®

With a pioneering spirit and a conscientious approach to wealth management, Scott leads CD Wealth Management with the belief that the interests of his clients always come first.

In addition to being the company’s founder and chief executive officer, Scott specializes in working with high net-worth individuals to manage their wealth and estates, and he helps businesses maximize their wealth transitions and protect key executives.

Primarily, though, excellent service is his calling card.

The foundation of his professional success came during his childhood, when he learned the value of hard work as he watched the family company, the well-known Dallas institution Waldman Bros, deliver on its commitment to caring for its ever-growing clientele.

He put his work ethic to the test at the University of Texas, where he grew into leadership roles with numerous student groups, including Zeta Beta Tau fraternity and the Silver Spurs, an honorary service organization that takes care of UT’s longhorn mascot, Bevo. In his first year with the Silver Spurs, Scott led his fellow new members in fund-raising work, generating $20,000 for the Boys Club of Austin.

As a student, he worked as a sales representative for Brown Distributing, where he learned the importance of building and maintaining strong business relationships. All the while, Scott excelled academically with a major in economics that set the stage for his career.

“The classes I took in economics taught me to think at the macro level, which I still do today. They taught me to be a big-picture thinker. I’m proud to be an economics major because it matched my brain and matched my passion. That degree helped me become a business owner.”

After a post-graduation backpacking trip in Europe, Scott paused his plans to enter law school, returning home to start work in the financial industry. He quickly developed an expertise for wealth management and expanded his list of clients before going to work at Waldman Bros in 1995, building the financial services side of the family firm.

In 2014, Scott launched CD Wealth Management with the blessing of his family and his business partners, building on the Waldman Bros legacy of excellent service. With the innate ability to understand clients’ wants, needs and goals, Scott is a passionate advocate for his clients, and he develops a unique strategy for each individual.

Known throughout the industry as a confident and trusted advisor who loves working and helping others, Scott holds a seat on Kestra Financial’s Advisor Council and serves on the University of Texas Economics Advisory Committee. He is No. 7 in the Forbes Best-in-State Wealth Advisors rankings for 2023, his third consecutive ranking, and he was named to the list of Barron’s Top 1,200 Financial Advisors in 2022, 2023 and 2024. He also was named to AdvisorHub magazine’s list of Advisors to Watch in 2022 and 2023.

Scott has been an active leader and member of numerous civic and community boards, as well as a dedicated volunteer. He and his wife Barbi are generous with their time and resources, and their belief in community service is reflected in the corporate belief system at CD Wealth.

Scott is devoted to his family and enjoys making memories and spending quality time with Barbi and their three daughters, Kacey, Ella and Olivia. He also is an avid golfer and an unapologetic supporter of the Longhorns, no matter the sport.

“It’s important to me to carry on the legacy my grandfather began, with a drive to always put the client first. Our greatest reward comes from seeing our clients achieve their dreams in life.”
