Chief Investment Officer
CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER®
Certified Private Wealth Advisor
Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy®

With more than a quarter-century of experience in wealth management and a deeply client-centric philosophy, Andy looks after CD Wealth’s clients and its investments with a tireless commitment to delivering exceptional service.

As Chief Investment Officer, Andy provides strategic oversight of the firm’s investment operations. He takes a forward-looking, data-driven approach to market analysis, helping clients navigate their decisions with clarity, rather than with emotion.

“People are so afraid of losing money that it sometimes can affect their decision-making process,” Andy says. “They’re often more afraid of losing money than they are satisfied from making money, so if you use hard data and facts to help people see the way forward, that’s the best way to go about it.”

Andy’s fascination with the markets started in his youth, influenced by watching his father’s work as a stockbroker. He grew up with an awareness of how the market was behaving, studying its performance and discussing it with his father often. He didn’t necessarily want to be a stockbroker himself because he knew he wanted to build deeper relationships than the buy-and-sell transactions of that trade often allow.

He earned a degree in Finance and Economics at the University of Texas and started his career outside of traditional finance in the restaurant industry at Brinker International, where he helped create and launch a new restaurant concept. He then joined an entrepreneurial start-up and, after earning his MBA from Southern Methodist University, worked in the private wealth management sector at Donaldson Lufkin Jenrette/Credit Suisse First Boston in New York and Dallas.

In 2004, he reconnected with Scott Cohen, his pledge brother at the University of Texas, and they started working together at Waldman Bros. Andy was Scott’s first hire at CD Wealth Management in 2014; from the start, they shaped the company’s client-first ethos.

“I love that we’re all one team here. There are no silos. We all row in the same direction, and we all focus on the client. That’s why we have a high-quality business and a reputation for being outstanding at what we do.”

Andy is a proponent of disciplined, long-term investing, emphasizing that success hinges on staying the course and leveraging the power of compounding, particularly when clients start saving at an early age. He derives immense satisfaction from guiding families toward their financial objectives, whether it’s ensuring they won’t outlive their money or enabling their philanthropic goals.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Andy is actively engaged in his community, having served as past chairman of the board at both the Dallas Jewish Community Foundation and the Southwest Community Foundation. An avid golfer, Andy values spending time with his wife and two sons.

“So many circumstances can change throughout a client’s life, but my approach to helping them never does. I love building a plan that meets their needs, and then I work to keep them on track to reach their goals.”
